Guitar Highway › Scan sheet music

Scan sheet music, get a guitar practice song

Photograph printed sheet music or import a PDF, and Guitar Highway's AI reads the staves, bars, notes and rhythm and turns them into a guitar practice song. You can fix anything it got wrong in the built-in editor; once saved, it becomes a song with notes falling down the highway.

Four ways to bring a score in

MethodDetails
Pick from albumChoose up to 20 photos of a score at once.
Take photoShoot the score right in the app.
Import from PDFReads a PDF score page by page (up to 20 pages).
Import MusicXML fileConverts single-melody .xml / .musicxml files (for example exported from MuseScore).

How to

  1. Open the Score Capture tab and choose how to import.
  2. Tap Analyze score, then Detect notes. The app finds the staves and bar lines and reads the notes.
  3. Check the result: the number of staves, measures and notes, the time signature and the Recognition quality. If the title and BPM are printed on the score, they are picked up automatically.
  4. In Edit score, tap a note to select it, drag it to change the pitch, and use the card to set its length.
  5. Tap Save. The song is in Riff Lab › My songs — tap Start practice.

Recognition isn't perfect. The sharper and straighter the photo, the better it reads. Tilted photos are corrected, but always check the result in the editor — that's what it is there for.

FAQ

Is the sheet music scanner free?

Yes — free, no ads and no login (iPhone with iOS 17+, or Android 8.0+).

How many photos can I scan at once?

Up to 20 photos from your album, and up to 20 pages of a PDF.

Does it work for piano scores?

The app is made for guitar practice. It reads the pitches of a standard-notation score and assigns them to positions on the guitar neck, so scores that suit guitar give the most natural result.

What if the recognition is wrong?

Fix it in the editor: tap a note to change its pitch or length. Before saving, the app also shows how many measures, notes and beats it will save.

Can I convert MusicXML or PDF scores?

Yes. Import MusicXML (.xml, .musicxml) single-melody files or PDF scores and use the same edit-and-save flow to make a practice song.

Is it on Android?

Yes — the same feature is in the Google Play version. Get it on Google Play.
